
APO in MMSU was the first Greek fraternity recognized by MMSU Office of Student Affairs on September 13, 1988, through the help of Dra. Juanita R. Torres, Dean, OSA and Bro. Dr. Bernardo S. Labtis, Dean, CAF, Collegiate Chapter Adviser. It was years of collective efforts of brothers & sisters from the different colleges of MMSU. It was the APO MMSU Chapters to include all 3 campuses in Batac, Laoag & Currimao.
History of Alpha Phi Omega Philippines Zeta Lambda Chapter. The Alpha Phi Omega Philippines Zeta Lambda Chapter traces its roots to the vision and dedication of a group of committed brothers who sought to establish the ideals of Leadership, Friendship, and Service at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac City, Philippines.
The chapter was organized on 22 October 1974 through the collective efforts of distinguished members of Alpha Phi Omega from different chapters. Serving as the organizers were Bro. Wilson R. Arucan (Alpha Eta ’71), Bro. Jaime Domingo, Jr. (Theta ’69), Bro. Warner Guillermo (Lambda ’74), Bro. Linbergh Jerez (Lambda ’60), Bro. Alfredo Lorenzo (Theta ’72), Bro. Victorio T. Pula (Lambda ’69), and Bro. Andronico C. Suetos (Lambda ’67). Their guidance and commitment laid the foundation for what would become one of the enduring APO chapters in Northern Luzon.
The chapter was established under the sponsorship of its mother chapter, the Beta Lambda Chapter of Divine Word College of Laoag (DWCL), Laoag City, whose support and mentorship were instrumental in nurturing the fledgling organization.
The petitioning group consisted of twenty-one dedicated brothers who demonstrated unwavering commitment to the fraternity’s principles. These were Bro. Emerito P. Acosta, Bro. Lauriano Bumagat, Bro. Eduardo Caoili, Bro. Venancio Chua, Bro. Edgar S. Faustino, Bro. Eugenio Flor, Bro. Antonio F. Gabriel, Bro. Dennis M. Galacgac, Bro. Generoso M. Libed, Bro. Renato Lopez, Bro. Hilario O. Licupa, Bro. Valentin Madarcos, Bro. Delfin Matute, Jr., Bro. Santos M. Pusag, Bro. Crispin Putulan, Bro. Gregorio Queddeng, Bro. Eugenio Santos, Bro. Joselito R. Saymo, Bro. Constancio C. Tan, Bro. Ronilo Tugaoen, and Bro. Edgardo Valdez, all belonging to Batch 1974.
After years of dedicated service and organizational development, the chapter achieved official recognition when it was chartered on 29 May 1983 during the 12th National Biennial Convention of Alpha Phi Omega Philippines held in Bamban, Tarlac, from 27–29 May 1983. The chapter’s charter was granted through the motion of Bro. Mama S. Lalanto (Alpha Iota ’68), then National President for the DY 1983–1985.
With its official charter, the organization became the Zeta Lambda Chapter, assigned Chapter Code 0611, and formally joined the growing family of Alpha Phi Omega Philippines chapters nationwide.

Since its founding, the Alpha Phi Omega Philippines Zeta Lambda Chapter has remained steadfast in upholding the fraternity’s cardinal principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service. Through generations of brothers, the chapter has continued to produce leaders and volunteers dedicated to serving Mariano Marcos State University, their communities, and the nation.
From its humble beginnings in 1974 to its official chartering in 1983 and beyond, the Zeta Lambda Chapter stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of brotherhood and selfless service envisioned by its founders. Today, it continues to build upon that proud legacy, inspiring every member to live the ideals of Alpha Phi Omega and to leave a lasting impact through service to humanity.
The APO Zeta Lambda Chapter Sorority. As the Zeta Lambda Chapter continued to grow and strengthen its presence within Mariano Marcos State University, the vision of expanding Alpha Phi Omega’s ideals of Leadership, Friendship, and Service to women members became a significant milestone in the chapter’s history.
The Alpha Phi Omega Philippines Zeta Lambda Chapter Sorority was organized on 7 August 1977, marking the beginning of a new era of inclusivity and service within the chapter. Guided by the same commitment to developing servant-leaders and fostering lifelong friendships, the sorority became an integral partner of the fraternity in advancing the organization’s mission both within the university and in the surrounding communities.
The chapter’s growth culminated in the organization of a dedicated petitioning group composed of fifteen sisters whose commitment and perseverance paved the way for the formal recognition of the sorority These were Sis. Their dedication and unwavering belief in the ideals of Alpha Phi Omega led to the official chartering of the Zeta Lambda Chapter Sorority on 30 January 1993. This historic achievement formally recognized the sorority as an integral component of the chapter, strengthening its capacity to serve the university and the broader community through meaningful projects and collaborative leadership.
